Inspired by r/place and Nouns, Mosaics is a community art platform where everyone can come together to create a one-of-a-kind pixel art piece on the community canvas.

Each day, the canvas is minted as a token (called a Mosaic) on the Ethereum blockchain. Through an on-chain auction process, the Mosaic is auctioned to the public for 24 hours. Once the auction ends, the Mosaic is trustlessly sent to the winner.

Aside from the first canvas created at launch, a new canvas is created automatically when the previous Mosaics' auction is settled. Approximately every 24 hours, a new canvas will be created.

After a canvas is completed, the final image and metadata will be stored on Arweave, a permanent data storage service. The Mosaic smart contract will then be updated with the new metadata for the given Mosaic.

Thereafter, the Mosaic will be auctioned to the public for 24 hours.

Mosaic auctions last for 24 hours. Bidding is available immediately and ends once the on-chain auction time is reached. The reserve price starts at Ξ0.01. New bids must be higher than the last, and previous bidders are automatically refunded. If new bids are placed during the last 5 minutes of the auction, the auction time is extended by 5 minutes.

Auctions must be settled before a new canvas can be created. Once the auction ends, a settlement button will appear. Anyone can settle an auction, but only the auction winner gets the Mosaic.

If you own a Mosaic, you can participate in the Mosaics DAO.

The Mosaics DAO will be funded with 80% of the proceeds from every Mosaic auction. The remaining 20% is sent to the Mosaics Founding team to fund the development of new projects and to improve our product and community.

Holding a Pixie grants you access to its' Pixie Map. The map acts as the reward system and "reveal" mechanic for your Pixies. The map will consist of a series of levels, where each level you complete grants you new rewards and benefits. Each Pixie will progress through their map by meeting the criteria at each level. Pixies will undergo various transformations, unlocking new traits the further you go.

Pixies have a total of five stages. Upon unlocking each stage, your Pixie will transform, and unlock new traits. Once your Pixie reaches the final stage, it will be completely unique.

Stages are unlocked by completing the criteria set out in the Pixie Map.

Every contribution you make to the daily canvas will count towards all Pixies you own. There will be special benefits to owning multiple Pixies.

No, you do not need to stake your Pixies. However, you will need to hold them in order to access the Pixie Map and the benefits it provides.

Clicking on a Pixie will bring you to the Pixies profile, where you can view the Pixies' progress, including the current level, the rewards you have unlocked, and the Pixies traits.

Yes, the Mosaics platform is only accessible through a web3 wallet. We recommend using Metamask, but you can use any web3 wallet supported by Rainbow Kit. If you don't have a web3 wallet, you can download Metamask here. If you're new to web3 wallets, we recommend reading this guide.

While we have yet to determine the actual base cooldown period for contributions, we will be releasing more information about this leading up to launch. Cooldown periods will be determined based on user traffic.

You can reduce the cooldown period by owning a Pixie. Owning multiple Pixies also provides additional cooldown based on your Pixies' rank.

The Mosaics platform was built to support at least 10,000 concurrent users.

Yes, you can download the current version of the Mosaic canvas by clicking the download button on the canvas page.
